Latest Ariel Atom 3
Ariel Atom is sports car made by the Ariel Motor Company. As of this date, there are already three models of which the latest is the Ariel Atom 3. The difference of this newest edition from the two that preceded it is the car’s body. The chassis is composed of new frame. There is a significant variation in the latticework between its top and bottom sections giving much cabin room inside the cockpit. Specifically, it is 100 mm overall wider with a seating option that allows a more slightly sculpted and for the driver to sit at a lower level. This would allow the driver’s shoulder to move more freely especially during a fast wheel maneuver.
Another new feature of this model is the use of Type-R motor from Honda Civic. It may seem no different but a close examination of the details would enlighten one. Although, the block is mainly unchanged, some of its ancillaries are actually bolted to diverse places and engine mounts also differ. With this, the new mounts are more pliable eliminating the vibration the previous models suffered. The ride is definitely smoother, almost like the Honda i-VTEC. The harshness of the ride is taken away by the new dampers and the firmer rear. Light cars cannot normally cope with bumps but the Ariel Atom 3 goes through them well.
A standard 245bhp comes with it. The exhaust has two exits including a change in intake and fuelling. Wind deflectors could also be used to take a cut on the buffeting and wind noise. In fact it is useful in preventing your head from the gush of wind that tends to blow your head off. All you have to do is bolt the pair of small Perspex pieces to the dashboard allowing fewer distractions during the drive. Gearshift on six speed box is really positive.
The difference is dynamics is not solely limited to the outright performance of the new edition. Like its predecessors, it is fast especially with the supercharger that is bolted to its motor. Accordingly, it produces an estimate of 320bhp but quoted as 300bhp only.
