Man Sprays Apartment for Bugs, Blows Up Apartment
The stupidity of the human race is common knowledge, but sometimes, once in a blue moon, something stupid really, really stands out.
A classic example is the man from New Jersey who ‘mysteriously’ blew up his apartment while spraying for bugs. According to the New York Daily News and Reuters, Isias Vidal Maceda, a resident of Eatontown, New Jersey, was spraying his kitchen in an effort to eliminate pests. Apparently, the bug spray somehow ignited a blast. The apartment’s front windows were blown to smithereens and a fire quickly spread throughout the apartment. No reason is clear why the bug spray was suddenly ignited.
Yeah, right. This looks like a classic example of a man going fancy on the bug spray while lighting up a cigarette – or a joint - with a Zippo lighter. A bit of fire plus pesticide and what do you get? Ka-boom! Of course, this is all just speculation for now, but whatever happened, we all know that a can of bug spray wouldn’t just explode for no apparent reason. There would obviously have to be a catalyst of sorts.
Thankfully, Maceda wasn’t hurt in the blast – another mystery, considering how the apartment in question sustained damage in 80 per cent of its area. Why, even the apartment above suffered smoke damage. Very, very mysterious indeed. Either this guy (Maceda) is one lucky fellah, or he has mysterious skills that can make cans of bug spray explode for no reason while living to tell the tale.
Let this serve as a lesson for anybody who’s reading. We all know that bug spray is one of the best things every invented since sliced bread, especially in our constant fight against those nasty creepy crawlies around the house. Well and good, use it all you want. But do use it with prudence. Know that these are, in fact, flammable and very, very dangerous.
So the next time you even think about lighting up while target shooting with a cockroach, think again. You want the cockroach dead without including yourself – or the people around you – in the process.
