The Art of Lighting a Cigar

feature photo

Lighting a cigar is a form of art and is a great thing to watch if done the right way. Gather your friends in an appropriate location and choose a cigar for the group to enjoy. Cut the cap properly using your favorite cutting device. It is very important to test the draw of your cigar to check if it’s plugged or under-filled.

Choosing the perfect lighting device can also make a difference. A personalized zippo will not only prove its purpose but also make your lighting in style. The flame should be held about 1-2 inches from the cigar’s foot - the end with no cut - then roll the cigar so as to evenly heat the foot. Begin drawing it before it turns black and remember to keep rolling the cigar. If steps are done correctly, you’ll notice the cigar to catch fire as you draw. Make sure the foot is lit and as red as a cherry because uneven burning may change the taste and cause ash to fall off suddenly.
